Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the FirmScope platform operated by Firmscope Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England (company number 17309955, registered office RH20 2LF). By creating an account or using the service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use the service. By agreeing to these Terms you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you are using the service for your own personal, non-commercial research.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@firmscope.co if you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

Paid plans are billed in advance and payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. Starter and Pro monthly plans recur every month, and the Pro annual plan recurs every year; by subscribing to a recurring plan you authorise Stripe to charge your payment method at each renewal at the price displayed at checkout. The Season Pass is a single upfront payment covering a fixed three-month period of Pro access - it does not renew and no further charges are taken. Prices are shown in GBP and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.

Firm contact details are subject to a fair-use allowance, measured in the number of individual firms whose contact details you view: 300 firms for the duration of a Season Pass, and 150 firms per day on Starter and Pro. Viewing the same firm again never counts twice. The allowance protects the database from bulk extraction; it is set well above normal research use, and no plan permits scraping, redistributing or reselling the data.

5. Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel a recurring subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain full access until that date and will not be charged again. The Season Pass requires no cancellation: access simply ends at the close of its three-month period and nothing further is charged.

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 you ordinarily have a 14-day statutory right to cancel a new subscription and receive a full refund. Because FirmScope provides a digital service that you begin accessing immediately on payment, by confirming your subscription you expressly request that we begin providing the service before the end of the 14-day cancellation period and acknowledge that this waives your right to cancel under those Regulations once the service has been accessed.

Outside this statutory window, subscription payments are non-refundable except where we are required by law to provide a refund. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us at hello@firmscope.co and we will investigate promptly.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable legislation.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • scrape, copy, redistribute, or commercialise any data or content from the platform;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service;
  • use the service for any unlawful purpose or in any way that breaches applicable law;
  • interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have breached these rules.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, data, software, and materials on the platform are owned by or licensed to FirmScope. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for your own personal research purposes only. This licence does not permit you to sub-licence, sell, or transfer access to any third party.

8. Data Accuracy

Firm data on the platform is provided for informational purposes only. We aim to keep information accurate and current but make no warranty, express or implied, as to its completeness, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. You should independently verify any information before relying on it for professional decisions.

9. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, FirmScope excludes all implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FirmScope shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive losses (including loss of data, profits, or business opportunity) arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability to you in connection with these Terms shall not exceed the total amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under English law.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes we will give you at least 14 days’ notice by email before the new Terms take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
