1. Who We Are

Firmscope Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England (company number 17309955, registered office RH20 2LF), operates FirmScope, a platform mapping London’s boutique corporate firms across investment banking, consulting, venture capital, private equity, asset management and corporate law. 2. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Account data, your email address and hashed password, collected when you register.
  • Billing data, your subscription status and Stripe customer identifier. We do not store your card number or bank details; these are held exclusively by Stripe.
  • Usage data, pages visited, features used, and events such as firm profile views, collected automatically to help us improve the product.
  • Support data, any information you provide when contacting us by email.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to:

  • create and manage your account and provide the service;
  • process subscription payments and manage billing;
  • send transactional emails (account confirmation, payment receipts);
  • monitor and improve the platform using aggregated analytics;
  • respond to your support requests;
  • comply with our legal obligations.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on the following legal bases under UK GDPR:

  • Contract performance, to provide the service you have subscribed to.
  • Legitimate interests, to understand how the platform is used, detect fraud, and improve our product, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Legal obligation, to comply with applicable laws, including tax and financial regulations.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for longer by law (for example, billing records for tax purposes may be retained for up to 7 years).

6. Third-Party Processors

We share your data only with trusted third-party service providers who process it on our behalf under appropriate data processing agreements:

  • Supabase, database hosting and authentication. Your account credentials and application data are stored on Supabase’s infrastructure.
  • Stripe, payment processing. Stripe handles all card data and subscription billing. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.
  • PostHog, product analytics. We track anonymised usage events (no email addresses or payment data are sent to PostHog).

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

7. Cookies

We use the following cookies:

  • Session cookies, essential cookies set by Supabase to maintain your authenticated session. These are strictly necessary to provide the service and cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies, set by PostHog to track anonymised usage events. These help us understand how users interact with the platform so we can improve it.

8. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • Access, request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Rectification, ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure, request deletion of your data in certain circumstances.
  • Restriction, ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Portability, receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Objection, object to processing based on legitimate interests.

9. Right to Complain

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns directly before you contact the ICO, so please reach out to us first.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes by email before they take effect. The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
